Monthly Round Up and Kilmore today

Desperately disappointing month with UK bets after having a very sound Summer. After months of dry weather the rains arrived at the start of the month and it's been a losing battle all month since. As bad as the UK has been the Aussie bets have been in great form so there is actually a profit on the month but I'm furious with myself for not holding fire in those first two weeks when the big wet came. Here's the breakdown for September

UK

Blog       Bets advised in 12 races -No winners (4 seconds!)
               Stakes     17.0
               Returns    Nil
               Loss        17.0 units

Tweets    Bets advised in 12 races-2 winners (2 seconds!)
               Stakes      12.70
               Returns    11.13
               Loss          1.57 units

Total for UK    LOSS   18.57 units

Australia

Blog       Bets advised in 12 races -4 winners
               Stakes       15.60
               Returns     29.75
               Profit        14.15 units

Tweets   Bets advised in 17 races -6 winners
              Stakes        24.00
              Returns      35.49
              Profit          11.49 units

Total for Australia  PROFIT  25.64 units

Overall total for the month PROFIT  7.07 units

I'm only covering the really good UK and International racing now as we move into October and my goal is to try to retrieve as much of the 18.57 unit loss from last month as possible-there are still some big days to come so no reason to be anything but hopeful.
The main focus will be Australia though and I'll be putting out a blog most days during the Spring.Last year the Spring was an absolute bonanza so if I can repeat that I'll be very pleased indeed.

At Kilmore today the track is Heavy 8 after persistent rain this morning and it's still showery there now.Lots of scratchings as a result.I'm out this morning but will be back for racing. There is a chance of a bet but I need to see how the tracks playing and early markets are nonsense with scratchings. If there is anything I'll send via Twitter at least 10/15 mins. before jump time.
Back tomorrow

Monday's Post

I'm scaling back on the UK side of things as the flat season there begins to wind down.I'll still be very active over the next few weeks when the better racing is on but I'm not involving myself in the bread and butter stuff earlier in the week.I will, however, be ramping things up on the Australian racing and that will mean around 5/6 posts a week covering the Victorian and Sydney meetings.
I'll do a round up of September's results tomorrow and highlight anything that stands out at Kilmore.

Saturday 28 September 2013

Caulfield & Warwick Farm Today

Very stretched for time and still finalising bets. There will be bets but only time to send via Twitter today-will send 10/15 mins before jump time

Newmarket Cambridgeshire Meeting-Day Three

Four UK turf flat meetings today.Newmarket is Good to Firm,Ripon and Chester are Good and Haydock is Good with Good to Firm patches.Dry and mild day so conditions will get only quicker at all venues.

Newmarket

Race 1
Somewhat should be favourite here.2.75 is too big.I have him at 2.30

Advised Bet: Somewhat 2.20 units at 2.40 or better-take 2.75 now it will go

Haydock

Race 3
Very competitive sprint but Lady Gibralter ran really well last time with the visor refitted.Tracks a hot speed and worth an interest at anything over 10.0.I have her rated at  9.0

Advised Bet: Lady Gibralter 0.55 units at 10.0 or better-monitor on Betfair

Chester

Race 3
The price has gone early on Zain Eagle who I have backed at 3.75 and is now into my rated price of 3.0.No point in backing at the rated price but the info's there in case it moves out to a backable price.Win or lose this won't be listed in the audited bets

Chance of more today and if there is it will go via Twitter

Friday 27 September 2013

Mornington & Rosehill Today

Bit late with the blog today due to been a bit unwell due to a bad reaction to new medication.Never, ever have anything to do with the medical profession unless you absolutely have no choice in the matter.
Rosehill is Good 3 and very windy and that wind is working against front runners as there copping it full on.Makes things a bit difficult there as no one will want to lead and race patterns and speed maps are looking very suss.Anything there will be sent via Twitter.
Mornington is a Heavy 8 and it's windy there too but it's not a factor in the way it is at Rosehill.Still showers around that may hit or may not.May get to a slow 7.
Missed the boat a bit today but still playing

Mornington

Race 7
Secret Toy Bizness was 10.0 now 6.0 against my rating of 5.0

Advised Bet: Secret Toy Bizness 1 unit at 5.50 or better-take the 6.0

Race 8
Fav. here Complicate is a classy type but is far too short.Run Diego is overs getting a good run here and the 3kg claim is very handy

Advised Bet: Run Diego 0.85 units at 6.50 or better-take the 8.0 on offer for 50% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Newmarket Cambridgeshire Meeting-Day Two

Newmarket and Haydock today.Newmarket is Good to Firm and Haydock is Good.A dry day forecast so conditions at both courses will only get quicker.
Excellent at Newmarket and OK at Haydock.I haven't committed to anything at this stage but there are possibilities if markets move favourably. If I'm backing anything I'll send details via Twitter.

Moonee Valley This Evening

G1 Moir Stakes the highlight at Moonee Valley this evening.Track has upgraded to a Dead 4 but there is a forecast for later showers possibly thundery although the radar is clear at the moment. As always at this track the pattern can be critical so there is little to be gained from going off early unless there is compelling value on offer
There at possibilities this evening but I need just a bit more than is offer at the moment in early markets.Any bets (likely) will be sent through via Twitter.
I'll cover the UK racing in a later blog.

Thursday 26 September 2013

Newmarket Cambridgeshire Meeting-Day One

Newmarket and Pontefract today and both post Good with Good to Firm patches. With a dry day forecast expect Good to Firm to be the most accurate reading as the day progresses.
Another winner in Australia earlier today and things are tanking along now as the Spring gathers momentum.Bets in 21 races there this month for 8 winner so far and a profit of 24 units. After having had a dreadful month so far with the UK bets ( loss this month 18 units so far) I'm not exactly falling over myself to dig the hole any deeper. There will be horses at real value that I definitely want to back between now and the end of the UK flat season but there aren't any today. It looks very trappy today but I thought that yesterday and every favourite won at Goodwood!
Big,weekend ahead with G1 racing at Moonee Valley tomorrow Newmarket and the rest.
More tomorrow.

Wednesday 25 September 2013

Seymour Today

Very showery around Seymour this morning so the morning post of Dead 5 may be a bit optimistic and if more rain comes it could be genuinely Slow or worse.Essential to monitor weather conditions and look out for bias.

Race 8
Livery is a short quote in early markets around 2.10.He's won on very wet ground in England but that was a very weak 4 runner event. He has definite staying ability but I doubt he's anything special.Miss Outshine was very good winning at Geelong and she showed there that she has a really good turn of foot. She's had two wins on the synthetic and hasn't seen wet ground yet.Her Dam won her maiden on heavy so hopefully she can handle it.I don't think there should be anything between these two in the market and if it was dry I would definitely have Miss Outshine as clear favourite. She's 4.40 with the TAB and I have her at 3.30

Advised Bet: Miss Outshine 1.50 units at 3.50 or better-take the 4.40 for 40% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Wednesday's UK Racing

A winner in Australia earlier today squares things up for the month so far with a few days to go.
Two afternoon turf meetings and Kempton on the All Weather in the evening.Goodwood posts Good to Soft but a mild dry day is likely so there every chance of Good ground there.Redcar is Good to Firm and dry. It's a decent card at Goodwood and modest stuff at Redcar.
No bets today.I have early commitments tomorrow and as the racing looks very trappy and nothing really appeals as a likely bet I'm going to pass today.
Newmarket's Cambridgeshire Meeting begins tomorrow and plenty happening in Australia over the next few day's.

Tuesday 24 September 2013

Sale & Canterbury Today

No Metro meeting in Victoria today just the provincial meeting at Sale where it's a Dead 4.There is a possibility of showers this afternoon although the radar looks clear at the moment. If no rain arrives then an upgrade is likely I expect.Canterbury is a Good 3 and dry.
At this stage today just the one bet and if there is any more I'll send it via Twitter.

Canterbury

Race 5
Turnley ran well in a better grade than this last time.Overall this is a drop in grade for him from the class of races he's been competing in without getting a lot of luck and still running well.He has the outside gate but my speed map has him managing to slot into a good trailing position just behind the speed.I like him back from 1400 to 1250m and Rawiller takes the ride.I've got him 3.30 on my figures and 4.0 is on offer

Advised Bet: Turnley  1.50 units at 3.50 or better-take the 4.0 on offer with Ladbrokes/Bookmaker.com for 50% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Monday 23 September 2013

Weekly Round Up

A profit overall last week but it's been a very poor month with the UK bets so far and with only one winner all month it's wiped out the profits from a good performance from the Aussie bets.
Her's the breakdown for last week:

UK

Blog        Bets advised in 4 races-No winners
Stakes     4.15
Returns   Nil
Loss        4.15 units

Tweets    Bets advised in 3 races-No winners
Stakes     2.60
Returns   Nil
Loss        2.60 units

UK total LOSS 6.75 units

Australia

Blog       Bets advised in 4 races-1 winner
Stakes    5.20
Returns   8.45
Profit      3.25 units

Tweets   Bets advised in 7 races-3 winners
Stakes    9.70
Returns 18.07
Profit      8.37 units

Australia total PROFIT 11.62 units

Overall total for last week 4.87 units PROFIT

Still a bit behind overall on the month but a few days left yet.
Rest day for me today and tomorrow-back Wednesday

Saturday 21 September 2013

Saturday's UK Racing

Four UK turf fixtures today.Ayr is Good to Soft (early drizzle) Newbury is Soft (drying out) Newmarket is Good (drying out) and Catterick is Good (drying out).
Just races I'm taking on at this stage although there are other possibilities depending on how track conditions and markets develop.

Ayr

Race 5
Ayr Gold Cup.Always challenging but over the years I'm on the right side of the ledger with this race and happy to take three against the field here. The top six in betting are the best chances on my figures but I'll take the three at the best odds Khubala,Tropics and Hoof It.

Advised Bets:  Khubala      0.40 units at 13.50 or better
Tropics        0.40 units at  14.0 or better
Hoof It       0.35 units  at  15.0 or better
Average on Betfair with all three

Newbury

Race 5
York Glory was a borderline decision for me at Beverley last time and I passed him over because of the fast ground.Right decision but he really should have won and was beaten by a shocking ride from Spencer.Doyle replaces in the saddle today and with a good pace likely and the juice in the ground suiting I like his chances today.

Advised Bet : York Glory 1 unit to win at 5.50 or better-monitor on Betfair

Probably will be more and I'll send it via Twitter if there is

Friday 20 September 2013

Caulfield,Randwick & Pakenham Today

Caulfield is a Slow 6 and drying out.Chance that the fence may be a bit "suss" there today according to Sam Hyland after he walked the track this morning.Randwick is a Dead 4 and drying out to a Good 3.Pakenham is a Slow 7 and drying too.
Caulfield is very difficult programme and there is nothing I want to back at current prices bar one in the Underwood which I'm still pondering about.Randwick is much the same although there is a bet there early. The ones that interest me are not offering any fat at the moment. If markets ease up favourably I'll send any bets via Twitter
I'm keen on three races at Pakenham but early markets are 30% plus overound so if you want these bets you need to be following the blog on Twitter as I'll "tweet" them through.I'm pretty confident at Pakenham today.

Randwick

Race 5
G1 George Main and a very good field assembled. Most get back and are aiming at bigger prizes over further (Hawkspur,Royal Descent and Fawkner are Caulfield Cup bound).Sacred Falls,Shoot Out and possibly Sincero will be conceeding starts. The ones up front should be Streama,Dissident and Veyron and of the tree I'll have the 3-y-o Dissident getting 6kg's or more.He was outstanding in last weeks Golden Rose when wide throughout and at least the equivalent of the winner Zoustar.6.0 on offer against my rating of 4.50.

Advised Bet: Dissident 1.10 units at 5.0 or better-markets will get better so monitor on Betfair

Friday's UK Racing

Ayr,Newbury and Newcastle on turf today. All post Soft and all can expect a dry day.Probably be looking at Good to Soft by the end of racing.
Just two at the moment.

Ayr

Race 6
Bop It improved on the wet ground at Haydock last time and he appeals as a horse with a bit more to offer. This is very competitive but he's 10.0 on Betfair and with some bookies and that's big enough to tempt me.I rate him 7.50

Advised Bet: Bop It 0.65 units at 8.0 or better-10.0 or better is good value-I've taken 10.5 on Betfair

Newbury

Race 3
Goodwood Mirage has had a good season despite not getting the cut in the ground he really enjoys.Forgive his last run as the saddle slipped. He's top priced at 4.30 here and I rate him 3.70

Advised Bet: Goodwood Mirage 1.35 units at 3.80 or better-monitor on Betfair

Any more today will be sent via Twitter

Thursday 19 September 2013

Thursday's UK Racing

Ayr begins it's Cup Meeting today and Yarmouth has the final day of it's three day September Meeting.Pontefract as well this afternoon and Kempton on the All Weather this evening.Rain from the west looks certain to affect all fixtures today.Going changes look highly likely and non runners too so until I know what I'm dealing with it's pointless going off early. There are possibilities today but at this stage I'm not committed to anything. If I'm playing I'll send details via Twitter

Wednesday 18 September 2013

Cranbourne & Newcastle Today

Cranbourne is a Heavy 10 and it's borderline that they will get through the meeting. It doesn't take much in Victoria these days for them to decide that "elf and safety" comes first.TVN presenters and stewards get paid the same if it finishes at 2pm or 5pm and so there happy for any excuse to get home early.Newcastle have their cup day and it's a Good 3 and dry.
I can't find anything that appeals at Newcastle but a couple are of interest at Cranbourne but not at the early quotes until I've seen how the track is playing. If there is anything today I'll send it via Twitter

Wednesday's UK Racing

Got called out to deal with family drama's and just back now.
Way behind on the form so I can give you nothing today unfortunately. It's very decent racing too but the heavy conditions at Sandown make betting there unattractive.I wasn't keen on Beverley before I got called away but the Yarmouth card had possibilities.I'll have a good look at that over the next hour or two and if there is anything I'll send it via Twitter.
Profitable day on the Aussie bets earlier so it hasn't been a wasted day at least

Tuesday 17 September 2013

Bendigo & Newcastle Today

Newcastle stages it's two day Cup meeting with today's highlights the Spring Stakes and the Cameron Handicap. It's posted a Dead 5 but it's drying out so expect an upgrade.Bendigo is a Slow 7 and there is a chance of more rain moving in from the west as the afternoon goes on.
There are bets in two races at this stage and there is a possibility of more at Bendigo but I want to have a look at the weather and track conditions before making ant further commitments .

Bendigo

Race 5
Poppy's Bot comes into this off a win in a 58 grade race and also has a wide barrier to overcome. Those negatives are outweighed by the fact that he's a big strong scopey type and he's improving rapidly. He's massive overs on my figures at 14.0 (has been higher elsewhere) as I only have him at 5.0 here

Advised Bet: Poppy's Boy 1 unit at 5.50 or better-take the 14.0 now before it goes

Newcastle

Race 7
My first thoughts on looking at this was how attractively Toydini was weighted with most of them on the limit but that he'd probably be using this race to top him off for the Epsom at Randwick. When I looked at the Epsom weights I realised that he probably needs to win here to guarantee a start there. So expect him to be ready to go today. His comeback run was full of merit and there'll be enough pace on here to suit him.The other one that appeals is High Esteem who was very good at Caulfield last time and still has some more to offer.
Early markets are at 25/30% here and will tighten up so monitor these two on Betfair and average in

Advised Bets:

Toydini            1.30 units at 3.90 or better- monitor on Betfair
High Esteem    0.90 units at 6.0 or better- monitor on Betfair

If there is more today I'll send it via Twitter

Tuesday's UK Racing

Three UK flat meetings today.I've has a busy day catching up on non racing stuff so I'll be giving it a miss.
This afternoon's Australian bet was turned over by a 50/1 shot after missing the kick and being forced to race out wide.No luck today but the Australian scene is warming up and expect the winners to flow over the coming weeks.Back tomorrow with a look at the Australian midweek action

Monday 16 September 2013

Bet at Tralalgon Today

Tralalgon

Race 6
This is a low grade affair and won't take much winning.Early markets have Grief favourite around 2.80 which is far too short.I think Runs To Rule should be fav. here at around 3.80 which is his current price. The one I like at odds is Clubhouse King who improved a lot last week on the first occasion he's seen a really wet track. He was very good on pace there and showed plenty of spirit. He has the potential to improve a length or two and he can sit handy in the run here. The 2kg claim helps and at 7.0 /7.50 he's overs against my 5.50 on a book done to 90%.I'm not adverse to backing maidens in these low grade 58 rated races.

Advised Bet: Clubhouse King 0.90 units at 5.80 or better-take the 7.50 with Bet 365-7.0 elsewhere

Fortnightly Round Up

I took a couple of rest days at the beginning of last week so I didn't get round to doing a weekly round up as I usually do each Monday. Here's the breakdown for the month so far

Australia

Blog:         5 Bets advised-1winner
Stakes        5.55
Returns      8.40
Profit         2.85 units

Tweets:      5 Bets advised-2 winners
Stakes        7.45
Returns      12.27
Profit           4.82 units

Australian Total  Profit 7.67 units

UK

Blog:         6 Bets advised-No winners
Stakes       10.20
Returns      Nil
Loss           10.20 units

Tweets:     6 Bets advised-1 winner
Stakes       6.60
Returns     5.70
Loss          0.90 units

UK Total Loss 11.10 units

Overall total LOSS 3.43 units

Overall the loss was 11.45 units after the first week of September so a fair week last week to compensate.Plenty of excellent racing to come this month so I've got to be confident the figures will be in the black by the month's end.
No bets in the UK today as I'm taking a rest day.Quite keen on one tomorrow in Australia but Victoria has been deluged today so I'll have to see what we are dealing with conditions wise.I have commitments mid afternoon tomorrow but if I'm playing I'll put a blog out before I leave-no later than 2.30pm.

Sunday 15 September 2013

Sunday's European Racing

The UK meetings at Bath and Ffos Las are both fair but they are completely overshadowed by the cards at Longchamp and The Curragh. There is only one possible bet at Bath this afternoon and it's very much ground dependent so with the radar showing rain coming in from the west around lunchtime I'll need to see how things are looking later in the day.
Longchamp stages an outstanding day's racing with two G1's the Vermeille and the Moulin and the 'arc' trials the Foy and the Niel both at G2 but both packed with outstanding horses.I've never seen the fields so strong for this day's racing it's a magnificent card to look forward to.
Over in Ireland the Curragh has two G1's the Irish St.Leger and the Vincent O'Brien National Stakes.
The weather once again is a major factor in any betting decisions.Longchamp is Soft but dry weather is forecast. The Curragh is Good/Good to Firm but rain is forecast before racing.
There will be some value around today but the mail will have to be late due to the weather so all bets sent via Twitter

Saturday 14 September 2013

St.Leger Festival-Day Four

St. Leger day at Doncaster (Good to Soft) plus Bath (Good), Chester (Good to Soft),Lingfield (Soft) and Kempton this evening on the All Weather.
The rains have played havoc with the form book this month and again we are faced with a day that's almost impossible to approach with any confidence if your backing. The "lay" side has been the place to be this week.
I am holding fire as a dry day everywhere is forecast and I want to see how much the ground dries out and get an accurate reading of ground and track patterns.
Sorry to have nothing definite on such a big day but as I've said in this blog before I only put them up when I'm backing them and at this stage I've backed nothing.I do like Inscription in the last at Doncaster but he's a much better horse with juice in the ground so I don't want to find out that by the time the race is run everything has dried out.I always check radars and forecasts but the weather has caught me out completely the last three days so today I'll hold fire till I'm sure.
Bets sent via Twitter (if there are any).

Friday 13 September 2013

Moonee Valley & G1 Golden Rose at Rosehill

The weather is playing havoc this month for me.Firstly if anyone took the early Twitter advice to back Rain Affair at 2.80 (effectively 2.25 after scratchings) based on the radar and BOM forecast at 3am this morning I strongly suggest you trade out of the position even if you have to take a modest loss.Somehow Rosehill has missed the rain and all around it there have been falls of 10/15mm but it has stayed dry. With a dry track I simply do not want to back Rain Affair and expect him to get out to around 2.60 plus this afternoon. He may win but I'm out.
Rosehill is amazingly still a Good 3 and it's dry on the radar now.Moonee Valley is a Dead 4 but it's drying out and an upgrade is likely although there is a possibility of showers late in the day.

Moonee Valley

Race 3
Motivado will eat these if returning to his UK form here today.8.50 is way to big for a horse of his quality. He's a genuine stayer but he showed enough speed in England to win decent races around 2000m so he's not just plugger.

Advised Bet: Motivado 1 unit at 5.50 or better-take the 8.50 on offer now for 50% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Race 8
Drying ground and a wide gate are likely to conspire against early favourite Elite Elle. The percentage call here is It Is Written who loves the valley and was a real improver last prep.He resumed with a very taking fourth at G3 level and he should be a Listed grade horse this prep.

Advised Bet
It Is Written : 0.85 units at 6.0 or better-take the 8.50 on offer now for 70% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

There are more possibilities but generally it looks a trappy day.If there is anything else I'll send it via Twitter

St.Ledger Festival-Day Three

Doncaster,Sandown on turf this afternoon and Wolverhampton on the All Weather this evening. Both turf tracks post Good to Soft and the radar suggests that both could get some light rain this afternoon.
I was completely wrong footed with an wholly inaccurate posting from Epsom yesterday so monitor closely today.
Doncaster was much better yesterday than Wednesdays card and today is very good.Sandown has a decent card too.Unfortunately I am struggling to find an angle into anything at this stage today. I regretted going off early yesterday by the time racing had got underway so I'm not falling over myself to put anything up early today. Results yesterday produced a layers bonanza and whilst I don't think that will necessarily be the case today I am noticeably lacking in confidence about anything at this stage.
If there is anything I'll send it via Twitter.

Thursday 12 September 2013

St.Ledger Festival-Day Two

Doncaster,Chepstow and Epsom this afternoon and Wolverhampton on the All Weather this evening.Doncaster and Epsom are Good to Soft and Chepstow is Good.It looks like a dry day at least until the end of racing so it will be no surprise to see genuinely Good ground as the day progresses. We'll see.
A much better card at Doncaster today than yesterday's lacklustre offering.Very competitive and tricky generally though.
Just two bets at this early stage but a good chance there will be one or two more,if so they'll go out via Twitter.

Doncaster

Race 4
This is a substandard renewal of this G2 event.I'm keen to take on the favourite here The Lark. The Oaks in which she was third is proving to be a very poor form race and I'm not sure the form amounts to anything special.Seal Of Approval is the obvious alternative and I'm happy to be with her today

Advised Bet: Seal Of Approval  1.65 units at 3.20 or better-take the 3.50 on offer now for 50% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Epsom

Race 5
Pilates routed her rivals at Brighton and attempts to follow up under a 6lb penalty.I think she'll be mighty hard to beat again she's a typical Mark Johnston improver with plenty more to offer yet

Advised Bet: Pilates 1.55 units at 3.30 or better-monitor on Betfair-around 4.0 at the moment for small money

Expect more later via Twitter

Wednesday 11 September 2013

St.Ledger Festival-Day One

The Ledger meeting kicks off at Doncaster today.Carlisle race as well this afternoon and Kempton on the All Weather this evening.
Doncaster and Carlisle both post Good and there is rain threatening both meetings particularly Carlisle.
Doncaster is OK today without being anything to get too excited about.I am not committed to anything at this stage as I really want to see how the ground is this afternoon. There are possibilities and any bets will go out via Twitter.
A good day for the blog in Australia earlier went some way to retrieving the damage done last Saturday.Overall including "Twitter Bets" the blog is 3 units down on the month so far. There is good racing all through the month so I'm hopeful the winners will start flowing.

Tuesday 10 September 2013

Mornington & Warwick Farm Today

I've had a couple of days off to freshen up after a bloody awful day on Saturday.Sorry I haven't done last weeks round up.In short everything got beat and the blog incurred double digit losses.Let's move on and start retrieving those losses.Doncaster St Leger festival begins tonight in the UK so a good week of racing to look forward to there.Meanwhile two good midweek metro meetings today at Mornington and Warwick Farm.
Mornington is a Dead 4 and the rain seems to have ended so an upgrade is a possibility.Warwick Farm is a Good 3 and drying all the time

Mornington
I'm not committed to any bets at this stage but there are a couple of possibilities and I sent any bets through via Twitter. Two favourites that are too short though according to my figures are Race 2 Turquoise King currently 3.20 and I have around 5.50 and Race 6 Office Bearer currently 2.80 and I have at 5.0.

Warwick Farm
Race 1

Medevil ran a huge race last time when hassled throughout. He should be favourite here but is on offer at 4.20 (4.40 just taken). He's 2.80 on my figures

Advised Bet: Medevil  1.75 units at 3.0 or better-4.60 on Betfair now for a few hundred-monitor

Anymore today sent via Twitter

Sunday 8 September 2013

Sunday's UK Racing

An atrocious day yesterday and a stark reminder of how volatile the game becomes when the rains arrive.
I was tempted to take a couple of rest days to gather myself together but there are definite possibilities at York today depending on what the actual going is .Good with Good to Soft patches is posted and a dry day expected. This track dries well since the remedial work was carried out so it may actually be genuinely Good or bordering on better by the time things get under way.Three races of serious interest this afternoon but not committing to anything early until I've seen the times and how the track plays in the first couple of races.
York is the only UK flat meeting today which strikes me as very poor planning.Another meeting would have made the day far more appealing.
If I'm backing anything I'll send the details via Twitter

Saturday 7 September 2013

Saturday's UK Racing

Three turf and two All Weather UK flat meetings today plus the G1 Irish Champions Stakes meeting over in Ireland.Haydock has it's G1 Sprint Cup day and it's Good to Soft with Soft patches and still rain around there so Soft seems most likely.Thirsk is Good to Soft with Soft patches and it's dry there so that is probably accurate.Ascot is Good to Fim with Good patches and it's likely to be dry there so expect fastish ground.
There are many possibilities today and there will almost certainly be more bets via Twitter but for now there are four advised bets and three are at Kempton on what is a very good card for the All Weather. The workload is massive today so just the bets today I do not have time to go into great detail

Kempton

Flemington & Randwick Today

The Spring is in full swing now and both meeting are ultra competitive today as you would expect.Flemington posts a Dead 4 but is likely to upgrade to a Good 3 although there are some light showers forecast later.Randwick is a Good 3 and a dry day expected so it will only dry out further.
The Sydney tracks are not level playing fields so far this season. The rail is out 8 metres at Randwick to try to even things up but until I've seen a race or two I'm not committing early to anything there.Any bets in Sydney will be sent via Twitter 10/15 minutes before post time.
At Flemington there are two bets today.I've already backed Dany The Fox ( Race 4) earlier in the week at 4.20 minus deductions brings it into 3.30.It's around 2.60 now which is close to my revised price after scratching of 2.65.That doesn't really help you at all does it?

Flemington

Race 7
Rebel Dane is all the rage here after his dominant Sydney win.He deserves to be favourite but 2.40 is far too short. The overs is Adamantium who blizted his rivals twice last season down the Flemington straight. He ran very well resuming at Moonee Valley going off at a crazy speed and only being caught 50m from home.I have him 6.0 here and 8.50 is available with Bet 365

Advised Bet: Adamantium 0.85 units at 6.50 or better-take the 8.50 on offer now with Bet 365

Race 8
Very open looking G2 at set weight and penalties for Mares only.16 runners but most are up against it here and a couple of the more fancied runners are a bit short against my figures. From a good gate and able to get a lovely run trailing the pace Oasis Bloom looks a very sound proposition at 15.0 and 4.50 a place with Bet 365.I have her a 9.0 chance here

Advised Bet: Oasis Bloom 0.55 units EACH WAY at 9.50 or better-take the 15.0/4.50 on offer now with Bet 365

Friday's UK Racing

Looks like the Summer's over with rain arriving and lots of it judging by the forecast.Three afternoon meetings and the All Weather at Kempton this evening.Chepstow posts Good to Soft but they may not get much more rain looking at the radar.Haydock and Newcastle both post Good to Firm but it will be deteriorating ground at both venues as the day progresses and the forecast rain gets into the ground.
It's poor racing for a Friday all low grade stuff but I could have been interested in a handful today had the rain stayed away. There are no advised bets at this stage and only a minor chance I'll be backing anything with the uncertainty over underfoot conditions. If Chepstow avoids more rain and is bordering on Good there are a couple there that I'm keen on.I will send via Twitter if I'm playing.
I'll definitely be looking to be active on the "lay" side of the exchange today.A sudden and pronounced shift from fast to slow ground puts the backer at a marked disadvantage to the layer overall. The possibility of "track bias " due to heavy rain also complicates things if your backing.
The inside running rail at Haydock can be a "no go" zone when it gets really wet so a low draw on the round course can be a real disadvantage if the rain sets in.I'll be looking to capitalize on these uncertainties if the right conditions present today

Thursday's UK Racing

Three UK flat meetings today. Two afternoon and Kempton on the All Weather this evening.
Haydock and Salisbury post Good to Firm and a dry day forecast so fast conditions.
Both afternoon cards are very attractive with some decent horses racing. When I scanned through the cards yesterday quite a few today interested me but a closer look today has me wary. There are definitely two or three prospects but markets need to open up a little to provide value. No bets at this stage but if I'm playing later I'll advise via Twitter.

Tuesday's UK Racing

Four UK flat meetings today. With another warm dry day in prospect expect Good to Firm or faster everywhere today.
It's a better offering than the usual Tuesday and quite an interesting day in prospect.Nothing jumps out at me from early markets and at this stage the day has quite a trappy look to it.Things may look different if markets open up a little and if I am backing anything I send details through via Twitter.

The next eleven weeks or so are the busiest of the year.
The Australian Spring is here and it's quality racing right through to the end of the Spring Carnival in mid-November.I started this blog during the Australian Spring last year and with the winners of the three major races-Caulfield Cup (Duneden) Cox Plate (Ocean Park) and Melbourne Cup (Green Moon) plus a stack of good priced winners it really was a bonanza start.Let's hope I can get somewhere near a repeat of it this year.
The Australian bookies (most of them aren't Australian anymore actually, and more on that at a later date) are all vying for business and prices are going up early now even on the country meetings so expect more blogs through the week as opportunities present themselves.
UK and European racing moves into Autumn and I always expect to do well through this period as there's quality racing every week right through to the Breeders Cup meeting in early November.
