July Figures

The blog was in the red for July unfortunately.A very poor start to the month (almost 16 unit loss in week one) was always going to be hard to pull back. Some very moderate racing away from the weekend fixtures also meant it was very hard to find much value through the middle of the month.
Here's the month's breakdown

UK

Returns    44.70

Hopefully August will see the blog back in profit.
I'm going to introduce some selected "Lay" bets this month. Most of my turnover these days is made up of lay bets on the exchange but you have to be careful showing your hand with these unless the markets are already strong and settled.More on these as the month progresses.

Goodwood Day Two

Apologies but no blog content today due to family issues which have taken up the whole of my day.
Hopefully back tomorrow.

Tuesday 30 July 2013

Goodwood-Day One

Goodwood week kicks off today and there are flat meetings at Beverley and Yarmouth as well.
Looking at the radar Goodwood is probably going to get some early rain this morning.3 to 5 mm should see the track Good all over although any more will have it riding on the softer side of Good.If Beverley and Yarmouth do get rain it will be late afternoon so they can expect good fast summer ground until the latter races at least.
The bets are at Goodwood but there may a tweet or two concerning the other meetings later.

Goodwood

Race 1
Tough open looking handicap to start the meeting.I though that Whispering Warrior was a horse with a fair bit more to offer when he won last time at Newcastle (Good to Soft). This is much harder but he draws ok and is progressive.10.0 plus is value against my rating of 8.0

Advised Bet: Whispering Warrior  0.60 units at 8.50 or better-shop on Betfair

Race 4
Really good staying handicap. Two against the field here and both from the same stable.Silver Lime was very strong beating a decent sort at Ascot last time and this trip really seemed to suit him.8.0 plus on offer against my rating of 6.0.Clowance House was very heavily supported to win a decent race at Windsor last time but could only manage third but nevertheless ran ok.He's unexposed and this trip will suit him so I expect improvement. He's 10.0 plus against my rating of 6.50

Advised Bets:   Silver Lime       0.85 units at 6.50 or better-monitor on Betfair
Clowance House 0.80 units at 7.0 or better-monitor on Betfair

Race 7
Jedward is bursting to win a race and is a live hope in a very open sprint.Drawn stands side where there is lots of pace around her she can sit just off the speed and in Spencer has the right rider to produce her with a late thrust.9.0 on my figures and 12.0 plus looks possible on Betfair

Advised Bet: Jedward  0.55 units at 9.50 or better-monitor on Betfair

Sunday 28 July 2013

Weekly Round Up

The blog went backwards slightly last week with an overall loss of 1.30 units. There is a very big week coming up with the five day Goodwood meeting beginning tomorrow.

Sunday's UK Racing

Decent racing today but a bit tricky weather wise at the moment.Rain around which will definitely affect Carlisle and may affect Pontefract.Ascot seems likely to be Good to Firm. There are possibilities today but I want to see how the weather is before committing. If I'm betting I'll send details via Twitter.
I am betting on the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville today so that's the only confirmed advised bet at this stage.

Deauville

Race 6
Rain yesterday has softened up the track at Deauville although it is drying out now and may revert to Good from the posted Good to Soft by the time we get to this G1 race for fillies and mares.Elusive Kate is favourite but she likes it dry so I'm happy to take her on here with Duntle.I really like this one today and the straight Deauville track will suit her.I have her 4.30 and 6.0 is available now and she is currently 12.0 on the french tote.

Advised Bet: Duntle 1.20 at 4.50 or better-take the 6.0 on offer for 33% and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Saturday 27 July 2013

King George IV and Queen Elizabeth Day at Ascot plus Newmarket.Newcastle and York

A hapless day for the blog with the earlier Australian bets-the only luck coming the blogs way there was bad.Never mind!
Great stuff in the UK today. There is a band of heavy rain threatening the south and if it hits Ascot it will make things interesting.Looking at the radar I think it will come after racing but monitor.
We are starting with fast ground everywhere.I'm not looking at the evening meetings today as that rain will probable affect them.

Ascot

Race 2
Cape Peron drew 4 in the Brittania and finished up on the stands side somehow.Sensibly Sweeney has been sacked and replaced by Dane O'Niell which seems fair enough to me.He's a pattern race horse in the making and will be hard to hold out here.My figures have him 4.0 and 5.0 plus is available

Advised Bet:   Cape Peron    1.25 units at 4.20 or better-monitor on Betfair

Newmarket

Race 4
Midnight Flower is on the verge of proving pattern class and in a race of a few hopes appeals as value at 7.0.My figures have her at 5.0.

Advised Bet: Midnight Flower  1 unit at 5.50 or better -take the 7.0 for 70% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance.

York

Race 1
I put Maven up on the blog at the last York meeting but it all went wrong for her in the stalls and the run is best forgotten. She won this race last year and she's far too big at 9.0 today.I have her at 6.0

Advised Bet: Maven 0.85 units at 6.50 or better-take the 9.0 for 60% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Race 4
Two against the field here in Tropics and Khubala. Both are on offer at around 8.0 and my figures have them shorter at 5.50 Tropics and 6.0 Khubala

Advised Bets     Tropics 0.90 units at 6.0 or better-take the 8.0 for 50% and monitor on Betfair
Khubala 0.85 units at 6.50 or better-take the 8.0 for 50% and monitor on Betfair

Friday 26 July 2013

Caulfield & Randwick today

Caulfield posts a Dead 5 but is dry and windy so there is a possibility that it will dry out to Dead 4 later in the day.Randwick is a Slow 6 but again a dry day so a possibility of a Dead 5 later.
I'm considering putting out an early blog for Saturday's Australian racing as the Caulfield selections have been smashed in early betting and there is no or very little value left in them now.Octavia (Race 5) was 5.0 early yesterday (3.80 after deductions for scratchings) against my rating of 3.30.She's 2.30 now against my readjusted rating of 2.60 so all the value has gone.Likewise I backed Committed at 7.50 yesterday (5.90 after scratchings) at and he's 4.40 now which is still a little value against my readjusted rating of 4.0 so I'll make him the first  advised bet:

Caulfield

Race 7
Advised Bet: Committed  1.25 units at 4.20 or better-monitor on Betfair

Race 8
Under The Eiffel is the percentage call here.Home track, good gate, ground fine and consistent performer with good recent form.Rated 3.80 and 4.50 is available.Koe is feared most.
Advised Bet: Under The Eiffel 1.30 units at  4.0 or better.Monitor on Betfair

Randwick

Race 6
Open race but Funtantes is surely overs at 17.0 (I took 21.0 yesterday). He's a rock solid performer and is no more than a 9.0 hope here.
Advised Bet Funtantes 0.55 units EACH WAY at 10.0 or better-Take the 17.0 win and 4.50 place on offer now

Race 7
Ghost Protocol is fully fit now and appeals most in a race which looks reasonably open but contains a couple in Lucrepitious and Iggy Pop (both around 5.0 ) that I'm always keen to take on.6.0 looks fair value against my 4.80
Advised Bet: Ghost Protocol 1.05 units at 5.20 or better-take the 6.0 on offer for 65% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance.

Race 8

This chiefly concernes Eigelstein back 100m is a negative I think.Burbero back a 100m not as much a negative and Happy Hussy.I'm undecided at this point but will tweet if I'm betting around 10 mins prior to the race

Friday's UK Racing

I was intending doing this blog in two parts and type the first part a few hours ago.For some reason it hasn't published on the site.I'll send it all together now but due to being badly delayed earlier today the market has already moved on some of these so it's all being a bit frustrating. As racing has started it will have to be selections and stakes only due to time limitations.

Ascot

Race 4
Advised Bet:             Auction    1.40 at 3.60 or better-monitor on Betfair

Newmarket

Race 6
Advised Bet:             Villoresi   1.85 at 2.90 or better-monitor on Betfair

York

Race 2
Advised Bet:            Picture Dealer  1.40 at 3.70 or better-early 6.0 now gone-monitor on Betfair

The other bet has shortened too much to represent value.Any further bets sent via Twitter

Thursday 25 July 2013

Thursday's UK Racing

Six meetings today, three afternoon and three evening fixtures.
There is rain around and it's hard to gauge where it's likely to fall and how much of it there will be.Predictably Bath and Brighton post Firm and the others Good to Firm but a half hour of torrential rain is a possibility anywhere.
I'm expecting Doncaster will get some rain but the forecast is not for buckets of it so trusting that Dead ground is the worst it will be I have one advised bet there. There may be other possibilities today depending on the weather so any more bets will be via Twitter.

Doncaster

Race 5
Elle Woods has been transformed since the "cheekpieces" were applied.I reckon she hit the front a bit too soon when winning last time and she hung and stargazed a bit late on.She travels very strongly through her races and I doubt the handicapper has got to the bottom of her yet.Shesastar has a 15lb pull with Elle Woods for a recent 2 length beating and won this race last year from a 9lb higher mark. She is feared but ran poorly last time and I'm willing to risk her.

Advised Bet: Elle Woods 1.50 units at 3.50 or better-take the 4.50 on offer now for 35% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Wednesday 24 July 2013

Wednesday's UK Racing

Generally dry but there is a chance of rain this afternoon at Catterick.Other venues look sure to be dry.I've looked closely at a couple today but continuing the recent trend have decided to pass on making them advised bets. This is proving to be a very dull month so far-hopefully there is something to get stuck into tomorrow.

Tuesday 23 July 2013

Tuesday's UK Racing

Lots of storm activity on the radar and it looks like hit and miss as to which areas cop the deluge and which avoid it.This coupled with some very moderate racing makes it an easy decision to leave well alone bets wise.If the rain does hit Musselburgh and/or Fos Llas then it may produce some good opportunities on the "lay" side of the exchange.Nothing conclusive I can advise today.

Sunday 21 July 2013

Weekly Round Up

Only one flat meeting in the UK today at Redcar and nothing to get excited about there so I'll be giving it a miss today.
I've found selections almost impossible to find this week with any number of small fields with a likelihood of the races becoming tactical. On reflection I may have been too cautious but I don't like putting up even money shots unless I can see real value in my figures and nearly all the possibilities this week have been shorties.Hopefully the coming week will throw up a few more opportunities.
Nevertheless,a profitable week.Here's the breakdown:-

Australia

Bets in 3 races

Stakes   6.30 units
Returns 6.30 units

No profit/loss

UK

Only one bet all week but a winner!

Stakes   1.55 units
Returns 6.67 units

Profit     5.12 units

No bets sent via Twitter this week

Saturday 20 July 2013

Saturday's UK Racing

Undoubtedly one of the weaker Saturday programmes during the Summer but things pick up again next weekend at Ascot and Goodwood is only 10 days away.
No rain in sight so fast conditions at all five flat meetings today.Only one bet today at this stage but if there are any more I will tweet them through.

Newmarket

Race 4
Good fillies handicap with a good number of them in form.Lots of pace here and happy to be with the strong traveling and improving 3-y-o Midnight Flower. The race she won here in dominant fashion last month has proved to be a strong form race. She's capable of stepping up a fair bit more so a 7lb rise is pretty fair.I have her rated 3.40 here and 4.0 is available.

Advised Bet; Midnight Flower 1.45 units at 3.50 or better-take the 4.0 for 35% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance.

Friday 19 July 2013

Flemington & Rosehill Today

Fleminton is a Slow 6 from a Dead 4. There are showers around now and the chance of more.A further downgrade probable.Rosehill is a Slow 6 and there have been some showers around this morning but it's clearing and a pleasant day expected-if there is a change it will probably be an upgrade to Dead 5
Three races today of interest:

Flemington

Race 7
Two against the field here.Argee Mclaren and Henwood are both improving types ahead of there handicap mark. Both are fit and in stellar form.On offer at 3.40 and 4.80 respectively against my ratings of 2.90 and 4.0.Wet ground ok for these two

Advised Bets:    Argee Mclaren 1.70 units at 3.0 or better-take the 3.40
                           Henwood         1.25 units at 4.20 or better-take the 4.80

Rosehill

Race 4
Burbero has nothing but improve over the last two preps and can go to another level her today.Very tough to beat here.My rating 2.70 and 3.25 is available

Advised Bet: Burbero 1.85 units at 2.80 or better-Take the 3.25 now

Race 6
Under The Sun is progressive and very consistent. He's an on pacer from gate 2 and will be very hard to pass here today. My figures have him at 3.35 and 4.20 is available

Advised Bet: Under The Sun 1.50 units at 3.50 or better-take the 4.20 with Bet 365

Thursday 18 July 2013

Friday's UK Racing

Six meetings, three afternoon and three evening.Fast Summer ground everywhere as the heatwave continues.
My schedule early today has been unexpectedly disrupted and I have commitments from 6pm my time so I haven't had chance to do a full form evaluation for today's racing.
Once again apologies as I was sure there would be something today but events have conspired against me time wise and unfortunately I am unable to offer any advice today.
There is a full Saturday schedule tomorrow so hopefully the blog can find a winner or two then.

Wednesday 17 July 2013

Thursday's UK Racing

The fine weather continues so decent fast ground again at all venues. There's plenty of racing but it's generally very modest stuff and there's nothing I can put forward at this stage today.
Sorry the advised bets are thin on the ground this month but we are faced with plenty of quantity and precious little quality until the weekend. The ones I considered today are short and priced up around or a tad below my figures so no value.
Back tomorrow

Tuesday 16 July 2013

Last Weeks Round Up and Wednesday's Racing

Apologies for this being late but my internet was down early yesterday.
A very quiet week considering it was a major weeks racing with the July Meeting at Newmarket.I'm finding this meeting increasingly tricky as each year goes by.It used to be one of my favourite punting meetings but the handicaps there are very tough to unravel now with the compressed weight range and the major conditions events all having a trappy look to them.Only one bet over the whole three days this year!

Here is the breakdown for last week's Advised Bets

Australia
Only two selections last week.A second and an unplaced runner
Loss on week  1.85 units

UK
Bets were advised in nine races
Stakes    13.55
Returns  19.87
Profit       6.32

There were no bets sent via Twitter last week

There is no midweek Metro meeting in Melbourne this week and the card in Sydney makes little appeal.Wednesday's UK Racing similarly makes no appeal betting wise so no bets anywhere today.
Back Tomorrow when things look a bit more promising

Saturday 13 July 2013

July Meeting-Day Three plus Ascot,Chester and York

Fine again today so fast Summer ground everywhere.Last day of the July meeting at Newmarket and very strong cards at York and Ascot and an almost impossible card at Chester. The fixture planning is crazy with everything of any real interest all on at once but that's how it is.

Ascot

Race 1
Tough sprint handicap with many hopes but Taajub seems sure to go very well. He's well handicapped ,loves Ascot and fast ground and was unlucky last time.In a difficult race i think there is value in him around 10.0 against my rating of 8.0

Advised Bet: Taajub  0.60 units at 8.50 or better-shop on Betfair -look for around 10.0 plus

Race 5
Two against the field here in Bold Sniper who was a tad unlucky at the Royal meeting here and Cafe Society who won really well at Salisbury

Advised Bets   Bold Sniper 1.65 units at 3.10 or better-3.50 on offer
Cafe Society 1.25 units at 4.20 or better 5.50 on offer
Shop around here and monitor Betfair

Newmarket

Race 4
Shea Shea was a bit unlucky at Ascot being mugged late by one on the opposite side of the track. His is the strongest form albeit marginally. My figures have him 3.90 and 5.50 is on offer

Advised Bet: Shea Shea  1.25 units at 4.10 or better-shop on Betfair

York

Race 2
Two against the field here.my figures have Montaser at 3.0 and Sun Central at 3.50 that over 60% of the market but you can back both and get black figures here.

Advised Bets:   Montaser      1.65 units at 3.10 or better-3.75 available
Sun Central   1.40 units at 3.60 or better -4.50 available
Shop around on Betfair but don't leave it late-I think these two will be popular

Race 3
Niceofyoutotellme was very good winning last time and he appeals most in a competitive handicap.
My figures have him 7.0 and he's available at 9.0

Advised Bet:  Niceofyoutotellme  0.70 units at 7.50 or better-shop on Betfair

Friday 12 July 2013

Caulfield & Warwick Farm Today

Caulfield is a Dead 5 with rain showers expected so doubt much improvement there.Sam Hyland who walked the track this morning reports it better a bit off the fence so there may be some bias evident there as the day progresses.Warwick Farm is a Slow 6 and drying weather may see it improve a little.
Nothing appeals at Warwick Farm on what is a very moderate Saturday meeting even allowing for it being Winter. Two bets at Caulfield

Race 2

Klishina almost got the job done for the blog last time. This is a bit harder but were not on a heavy track today and if this track is suiting swoopers then a small play at big odds is well worthwhile.61.0 with Bet 365 and 41.0 elsewhere is to big.

Advised Bet: Klishina 0.25 units Each Way at 26.00 or better.Take the 61.0 at Bet 365

Race 7

Committed was easy to back resuming but ran very well his fitness just giving out in the last 100m.Similar field assembles here and with an extra 200m and a fair gate I expect him to be hard to beat.I rate him 3.60 and 4.20 is available

Advised Bet : Committed 1.35 units at 3.80 or better.Take the 4.20 for 50% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Newmarket July Meeting-Day Two plus Ascot and York

Day two of the July meeting at Newmarket plus good racing from Ascot and York this afternoon. There are also two evening fixtures at Chepstow and Chester.Good to firm everywhere again today.
Only one bet yesterday but a nice winner well over the odds.Apologies for no tweets with anything else yesterday but I got engrossed in the Ashes Test which must have been a superb day out if you were lucky enough to be there.England is fantastic in the Summer when the weather is good and on days like yesterday I really miss being there at this time of year.
I'm struggling with this July meeting and I have no advised bets there again today.Good racing but makes no appeal betting wise.
Three afternoon bets today and a couple of possibles at Chester this evening which I'm undecided about at this stage but will send on Twitter if I'm playing.

Ascot

Race 3

Two lightly raced ones here that have the potential to improve a fair bit particularly now stepped up in trip.Caravan Rolls On is the more obvious and favourite but had Suegioo not run poorly last time I doubt the market would have them as far apart as it does.Suegioo is rated 6.0 on my figures so I'm happy to play with 9.0 plus currently on offer.

Advised Bet: Suegioo 0.80 units at 6.50 or better-take the 9.0 plus for 60% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

York

Race 2

Body And Soul has been very good to me over the last year or so.Last time she won at York there was strong early market opposition to her probably on account of the lively ground. She's very good in the wet and rain would have increased my confidence but she's got the job done before on dry tracks and she is still improving. She does have to take it to another level here but she is a pattern race filly in my opinion and at 6.0 in from 7.0 has to be worth a chance to prove it today.4.50 on my figures.

Advised Bet: Body and Soul 1.10 units at 4.80 or better.Take the 6.0 on offer for 60% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Race 6

I'm keen on the chances of Maven here from gate 1 and with the 5lb claimer on board. She's due to rise 4lb in future handicaps and is in career best form right now.She can race prominently in a race with very little obvious pace and her record here at York is very good.Favourite clearly on my figures at 4.30 and 6.50 is on offer.

Advised Bet: Maven 1.15 units at 4.60 or better.Take the 6.50 for 50% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Thursday 11 July 2013

Newmarket July Meeting -Day One plus rest of UK Racing

Newmarket's July meeting kicks off plus four other meetings.Fast Summer ground on offer everywhere today as the warm July weather continues. It's mid-Winter where I live in Far North Queensland but we're still getting 26 degrees during the day and around 20 at night.
I approach the July Meeting very differently to Royal Ascot. At Ascot I'm very bullish as long as it's decent ground and try to take on as many races as possible. This meeting calls for a far more selective stratergy. All the races at Newmarket today look very trappy and I'm happy to look elsewhere for betting opportunities today.

Doncaster

Race 5

There a push this morning for the maiden winner Wadi Al Hattawi from the Godolphin stable. He may be pretty good but he'll need to be well above average to down Renew here.I put Renew up on the blog at the beginning of last month but he played up at the start and was a late withdrawal. He gets the hood on today so hopefully that will settle him a little. He's out to 3.80 in morning markets and that looks big overs to me.I've got him 2.50 here.

Advised Bet: Renew 2 units at 2.75 or better-have 33% at the 3.80 and monitor on Betfair with the balance.

There are a few other possibilities today so any further bets sent via Twitter

Wednesday 10 July 2013

Wednesday's UK Racing

The good weather continues so decent fast ground at all turf venues again today.Kempton on the all weather being the evening fixture.
No bets and no tweets today.I'm recovering slowly from a bout of flu so I'm resting up again today.
Newmarket July meeting begins tomorrow so guaranteed good racing for the end of the week.

Sunday 7 July 2013

Weekly Round Up

OUCH!
A very poor start to July for the blog. There was a winner in Australia plus two losers so a small 2.02 unit profit there.Wretched week in the UK with the only profitable bet the EW bet on Pull The Pin on Friday evening.Saturday was especially hard going.Very disappointing day as I went into it very hopeful.Let's hope the July Meeting at Newmarket later this week can redress the balance.
Last weeks figures:-

Australia

Stakes     4.50
Returns   6.52
Profit       2.02

Eclipse Day at Sandown plus rest of UK Racing

Perfect Summer conditions everywhere today and a really excellent day in prospect.
This day provided me with my three biggest punting milestones back in the "eighties".My biggest ever win came in the '87 Eclipse when Mtoto defeated Reference Point. My biggest winning day came exactly one year later on Eclipse day in '88.On that day I backed eight horses, seven of which won.I had my largest bet ever on that day on Highbrow in the Lancashire Oaks which was surprise surprise the only one of the eight to get beaten.I don't play at those stakes levels these days but I was young and flying back then at the end of a decade of business success and wild indulgence.Obviously it couldn't last and it didn't.Everything came crashing down in '89 and by 1990 it was back to the beginning and start again.
The Eclipse today is a good competitive renewal and I'm looking forward to it but will pass on it betting wise.Plenty I do like today and here's hoping for a good day.

Sandown

Race 3
Wentworth should have won the Brittania at Ascot. He draws wide here but will go back anyway and the pace here will be good.He can round them up in the last furlong.Rated 3.80 and available at 5.50

Advised Bet :Wentworth  1.30 units at 4.0 or better -take 50% at 5.50 and monitor on Betfair with the rest.

Race 4
Nargys was fantastic at ascot and clearly should have won.She some way ahead on my figures here rated 2.50. 3.0 plus available on Betfair.Woodland Aria is a rapid improver and a saver on her is advised.

Advised Bets: Nargys 2 units at 2.60 or better.Shop on Betfair but not too late.Saver 0.40 units Woodland Aria.

Race 6
Biographer will relish the two miles and I readily prefer him over Caucus. My rating 3.0 and available around 4.0.

Advised Bet; Biographer 1.65 units at 3.20 or better-shop on Betfair around 4.0

Haydock

Race 1
Keen Holley Shiftwell will be hard to beat here.Overcame difficulties when bolting up at Newmarket and more to come.Rated 2.80 and 3.50 plus on Betfair

Advised Bet: Holley Shiftwell 1.75 units at 3.0 or better-shop on Betfair around 3.80

Race 2
Albasharah was most unlucky at Ascot and should take care of these.Rated 2.50 and 3.0 available

Advised Bet: Albasharah 2 units to win at 2.60 or better.Take the 3.0 now

Race 4
Opinion was very impressive at Ascot and the one to beat here. my rating 4.40 and plenty of 5.70 plus on Betfair.

Advised Bet: Opinion 1.15 units at 4.60or better-shop on Betfair at 5.50 plus

Nottingham

Race 1
Weak Ladies race but Action Front makes some appeal at anything over 5.0.Ran well last time and good pace here will suit him.My rating 4.50

Advised Bet: Action Front 1.10 units at 5.0 or better.7.50 available looks big -take 50% of the 7.50 and monitor on Betfair with the rest

Carlisle

Race 5
Frog Hollow was left with too much to do in a slowly run affair last time.Decent pace here and he's the one to beat.My rating 3.60 and there is a little 4.50 generally 4.30

Advised Bet: Frog Hollow 1.35 units at 3.80 or better-take the 4.30 for 50% and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Flemington & Rosehill Today

Flemington stage their Winter Finals day on a track posted a Good 3.It's generally dry and windy in Melbourne so it should be decent fast ground.Rosehill posts a slow 7 but with no rain in sight an upgrade to a Slow 6 looks likely-may even get to Dead 5.

Flemington

Race 5
Riziz is favourite here on the back of a strong win in the Gold Topaz at the Swan Hill carnival. He's won 6 from 18 starts so his wins to runs ratio is very good at 33%.Of those 18 starts 11 have been on Good and they have produced no wins. All six wins are on track with the sting out. It'll be fast here today so with quotes around 2.70 for him I think we are entitled to be looking elsewhere.
Dee Bee Nine was very good winning at Moonee Valley last time (wide run, just kept coming).13.0 is quoted which I find bewildering as I have this one at 5.50.I've gone over the figures again twice but I still have 5.50.
Advised Bet: Dee Bee Nine 0.90 units EACH WAY Centrebet are 13.0 win 3.90 place-Take it

Race 6
The Cleaner has had a change of stables since winning here a fortnight ago and is now with Robert Smerdon.Doubt that will prove to be a negative. He'll cross from out wide to lead again I expect. This race is a bit more difficult than the one he won here last time but he may get a soft lead and he'll probably be fitter.Happy to be with him again. He's on offer at 6.0 and I have him at 4.80 here
Advised Bet: The Cleaner 1.05 units to win at 5.0 or better. Take the 6.0 on offer for 40% of stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance.

Rosehill

Race 4
Secessio had no luck last time and should have won.Hopefully the blog can recoup the losses here.
Clearly on top on my figures at 3.0 and 3.75 is available.
Advised Bet Secessio 1.65 units to win at 3.20 or better.Take the 3.75 available for 33% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance

Friday's UK Racing

Five meetings today.Three afternoon and two evening.A warm dry day forecast so decent Summer ground everywhere today.
My teenage Daughter was out gallivanting last weekend and returned home on Tuesday with the flu.I've been trying to keep away from her all week but it's got me and I'm starting to feel very ordinary.I've battled through the form for today but whether I can battle through the racing is dubious.
Two bets at this stage-if I can keep going there will almost certainly be "tweets" as there are a few possibles today if the market gets a little more giving.

Doncaster

Race 4
Creek Falcon failed at Ascot after bolting up over this course and distance.I backed him at Ascot and he was below his best. He's subsequently trotted up at Leicester. He's the one to beat here.I have him 3.15 and 3.80 is available
Advised Bet: Creek Falcon 1.60 units at 3.30 or better.Take the 3.80 for 65% of the stake and monitor on Betfair with the balance.

Beverley

Race 5
Bondi Beach Boy was too strong for Pull The Pin over course and distance less than a fortnight ago.Bondi has subsequently been beaten (actually ran very well ) at Hamilton.Pull The Pin is a bit better at the weights tonight and draws for a gun run behind a likely keen pace. Pull The Pin is 5.50 on my figures but is 8.0 with the bookies and 9.0 plus on Betfair but only small money on offer.
Advised Bet: Pull The Pin 0.90 units Each Way (4 places here if 16 or more run) at 6.0 or better.Have 65% at the 8.0 available now and monitor with the balance.

Perhaps more later  via Twitter if I can battle the flu.

Thursday's UK Racing

Four meetings today and the quality is up a notch or so overall.Dry day forecast so expect good fast Summer conditions at all venues.
Nothing stands out at current odds at the moment.Looks another no bet day at this stage but if I do decide to back anything I will tweet it through.Pretty uneventful week so far.Hopefully I can find a winner or two over the weekend.

Wednesday 3 July 2013

Wednesday's UK Racing

Three flat meetings today.Chepstow is poor,Catterick is worse and Kempton serves up a typical all weather evening fixture. It looks like a day for the needy and the greedy. No problem giving it a miss today.
Plenty to go at from tomorrow though

Caulfield & Warwick Farm Today

I had a puncture early this morning which is a nightmare for me because I have no mechanical aptitude at all. After an hour of trying to fix it I had to call for help so what should have been a half hour of inconvenience turned into 2.Consequently I'm behind and frazzled as a result.
Caulfield is a Dead 5 and drying so a Dead 4 is a real possibility as the day goes on.Warwick Farm starts out a Heavy 9 and again it's dry so an upgrade is possible but it's still likely to be very holding ground.
I like a couple but haven't committed to anything yet. Will tweet through if I'm backing anything today

Tuesday's UK Racing

With all the quality racing loaded into the end of the week we are left with some pretty moderate stuff Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday this week.I've looked at a few today but won't be backing anything.Things pick up a bit as the week progresses.
Caulfield and Warwick Farm in Australia tomorrow so hopefully there will be some opportunities there.

Monday's UK Racing

There's a chance of some scattered showers today.Only light stuff though so I'm expecting decent ground at all venues.Generally a very modest bunch of horses competing.Just the one bet today and no tweets likely.

Pontefract

Race 1
Lady riders event.City Ground returned to form winning one of these lady's races at Lingfield last month. He only won narrowly but looked to be value for more to me.That was on the all weather and we are on turf today but he acts on both so no real worries there. He's on a 1lb lower mark here than when he won there which is a bit surprising but there it is.He's very well in on old form and the one they all have to beat here.Ms S Brotherton rides him again which is a very strong positive in these events.I've got him 2.70 here and 3.20 is available.
Advised Bet: City Ground  1.85 units at 2.90 or better.3.20 available now.Have 30% at 3.20 and monitor on Betfair with the balance.
