Sandown & Warwick Farm today

The site I use for checking the weather and radar is down so we'll have to go with the posted going only today.Sandown is a Slow 7 and Warwick Farm is a Dead 5.Moving well into Autumn now we can expect wet tracks to be more common.I have far less bets on wet ground than I do on dry so it's doubly frustrating to have gone through three months of perfect conditions so far this year and only have losses to show for it.Warwick Farm looks tricky at this early stage. The first five races at Sandown make no appeal at all but it picks up from race six

Sandown

Race 6
Waller has two imports running here today the first here in Mulaqen. He's sending these imported horses to Victoria because they are racing off lower handicap marks here than they would be doing up in NSW.Why are horses with proven established form coming here and been allocated marks around a stone in old currency below their actual ability?Maybe it's to encourage them to come to bolster up the staying races which have been woeful in recent years. It does seem a policy that very much favours the wealthy owners and trainers as the costs are high and out of the reach of the majority of players.A seven point concession to allow them to settle in and acclimatise is probably fair but they are getting too much as it stands.Anyway, back to Mulaqen. The race he won at York in May is usually a good form guide but I thought it was well below par last year. He's a grinding stayer judged on his UK efforts and I think he'll struggle over this trip.Host Off The Party looks a sound hope but at odds I've backed Tronador who will improve for the extra 200m-he's off bottom weight and is proven in the ground. He's 26.0 and my figures have him at 10.0

Race 8
Fulgar is the other Waller import on show today. If he's fit enough he should be winning this. His wet form is very good.He won a very competitive handicap at the July Meeting at Newmarket last year over 2000m but has solid fresh form over this trip. He's a solid C2 handicapper in the UK so rates around 92/93 yet here he is racing off 72.Between him leaving Luca Cumani and and now I have no idea if he's thrived or gone backwards so monitor betting.Don't let a minor drift put you off but if it blows like a gale pass.If he's right he's no more than a 3.0 shot here
