Caulfield & Rosehill Today

Caulfield is a Dead 4 with bits of light rain around.Doubt it deteriorates but a shower or two may rule out an upgrade-monitor.Rosehill is a Good 3 and it's dry and warm so expect good fast Summer ground.

Rosehill

I've missed the price on Red Excitement in race 8.4.20 is the best offer now but maybe there may be some 5.0 around on Betfair closer to the off.Probably play here at 4.50.Like this horse and not worried 61.5kg's on fast ground against markedly inferior opposition.Barrier is awkward and will need a decent ride but Avdulla riding with confidence at the moment. Will tweet if I'm betting.

Nothing else at Rosehill today.

Caulfield

Race 1
Looks very difficult-no opinion here

Race 2
Flying Hostess had all the favours when winning last time.Rating goes up but is offset by young Coffey's claim.Gate may be awkward but probably slots in for a nice trailing run again.Has improved each race this prep.Worthy fav. but too short < 2.65.Capalbio's win first up was excellent coming from last off a moderate tempo. That was a big improvement and if can go on with it is a very live hope here on home track.May play here but not committed yet.will tweet closer to race

Race 3
Quick Snitzel the obvious and hard to beat but at odds on I'd be much more a layer than a backer.Don't think there as much between him and stablemate Medvedev (around 8.0) as the current market suggests.Others all have negatives galore but still think the fav. is too short. Not keen this race really.

Race 4
Tricky-Spending looks well in but can never catch her and been burnt twice by her now.Watching only here

Race 5
Trust In a Gust comes here off a 6 week let up.Probably heading for Tasmania's Summer Carnival.Likeable horse and useful but short of top class.Probably the best animal here but will the race be needed?Have layed this horse around 2.40 this am but will trade out later hopefully for a profit.

Race 6
Prince Stratum is fav.around 4.0/4.20 which is very short and I have layed him at 4.50 for bits.A Dead 4 probably helps him more than a Good 3 but even so this race should be 6.0 the field.A fair few hopes here

Race 7
Infinite Energy has the best form from his penultimate run but you are brave if you back him as he's very hit and miss and has lost the winning habit. On paper his claims are very strong though.I haven't layed him here but will if he trades <3.60.Open race I think.

Race 8
Speed here is all drawn wide.Harder for Initiator here especially if getting across revs him up a bit.Once he and Subiaso get across I doubt there will be much pressure though.Magnapal's chance improves if there is genuine juice in the ground whilst Topkapi won a pretty warm event last time in good style and could figure here if he can run out 2000m.Probably doing nothing here
